Keekz – Step To Drums – 2010

This mix is the kind of set that takes you through different moods and styles, that breaks the monotony, that some single genre mixes can carry. Everything from some in your face bass, to feeling pretty, to wanting to jump up and get down. If you’re a fan of Dnb and Dub-step, then I’m sure you will have no problem digging this mix.

Bassnectar – IDJ Mixtape – 2010

What we have here is Lorin’s self described latest mix of “omni-tempo maximalism”. Bassnectar has been pushing the boundaries of what a DJ is since his beginnings. This mix, no exception, is an odyssey through the familiar flipped on it’s head. Making the music all his own, even your favorite Pixies track. He professionally warps hip-hop, to drum and bass, while dropping a few classic tracks for good measure.

Pat Benolkin – Love Drums . 01 – 2010

It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a new Pat B. mix so I was really excited when I saw this one in my inbox. The title tells me we have a new series, and just going on the quality of the Listen To This mixes, we are all in for a treat.  Let’s all thank Pat for the wonderful iPod fodder now kiddies.

Mix Architekt – Aspects of the 4th – 2009

Mix Architekt – Aspects of the 4th – 2009

This mix is a symphony of tech haus goodies, impossibly layered to create completely new textures.  I have a few of the tracks so I was able to really see what was going on (yes with my ears).  There is almost constantly four tracks going, expert filter use, amazing delay lines, complete restructuring of tracks you think you know. Technically it’s all there, but even at just the most basic human level… Emotionally it moves you from point A to point B, there are some serious builds and mood shifts.  Highly recommended listening material.

PANTyRAid – PROMoMiX – 2009

PANTyRAid – PROMoMiX – 2009

You are going to need sixteen and a half minutes, some big speakers, and a 40 please.  This mix was made for Mary Anne Hobbes on BBC Radio 1, but it was too good to let die there.  It’s chock full of their tunes & some layered acapellas that will make you want to wave that 40 and worship the sun.  Oh happy day, future bass music.

Billy Wonka – Golden Ticket – 2009

Billy Wonka – Golden Ticket – 2009

This mix is straight party.  I spent some time on the final phases of engineering so I’ve heard it a few times.  It comes right out of the box with a classic track that really means a lot to me, just because back in the day when the original was original this is the guy who was playing it.  Solid start.

Bucky Fargo – Live at Sektor 22 – 2008

Here’s what I know about Bucky Fargo… he is good at this DJ’ing thing, he has a dope radio show, he seems really nice and he answers his email. All great qualities! Now a little about this mix, this is Part 2 of a set at an after hours in a rundown warehouse on the south side of Chicago. November 15, 2008 to be exact.

Hecca & Max Power – Tree Blazers – 2008

Hecca & Max Power – Tree Blazers – 2008

Our first Dubstep mix, this one is a half and half. The first twenty-seven or so minutes you get a mix from Hecca. Next up Max Power. I’m pretty new to the Dubstep realm myself so it’s hard to get into too much technical detail, but this mix is solid throughout. Mind warping bass in your face from front to back, it’s unrelenting… in a good way!

Curtis Porter – Live at Club Curto – 2009

Curtis Porter – Live at Club Curto – 2009

It’s about time for a tech house fix innit? This mix does not disappoint.  Curtis Porter has that smooth mixing style I love, and he is very versatile. He can seamlessly weave a tapestry of sounds, then just sneak up on you and drop a bomb.  He has the tools in his shed and he is not afraid to use them people.  Everybody give it up for good DJs!

Clobber – Little Orphan Orange – 2009

Clobber – Little Orphan Orange – 2009

This mix is seriously a must.  I know I tell you all of the mixes are good, cause you know what they are.  But even though I hype every mix, I gotta tell you this one is pretty amazing.  In fifty-nine and a half minutes we cover 66 tracks and not once did I feel like I needed ADD treatment.  Impressive feat no matter who you are…
