Sum up your style in one sentence…
My style is a mix of dark and light, pretty and not-so-much, with emphasis on making electronic music a bit less serious.

You’re stuck on a deserted island, you can bring one thing… what is it?

Salt! I’m a salt addict.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A restoration ecologist–a person that tries to fix natural places that have been f’ed up by humans or other wildlife.

Analog or Digital?
I’ve never been able to play a musical instrument, and I started off DJing on CD tables, so I’m a fan of digital all the way! The difference in sound quality between the two is negligible to me, and digital is so much more portable!

Three labels you love?
Honestly, I dabble in so many genres of electronic music that I don’t really keep up with the labels. I haven’t found a label that consistently puts out music that I dig. But for downtempo, Merck seems to be a good one. Om Records is always a favorite for house, and Twisted represents in the psy arena.

What does your studio at home consist of?
It’s firmly in the ‘budget’ or ‘low-grade’ category! I have 2 American DJ CD1 disc players and an accompanying Q-deck mixer. I’ve had them for over 7 years and they still work fine (idiosyncrasies aside), which I’d say is pretty good for cheap electronic gear. I also have a Behringer BCD2000 that I use to mix mp3s. However it always locks up on my old bulky Dell C640 laptop, so it doesn’t get a helluvalotta use right now. All this shit’s getting replaced as soon as I win the lottery!

You walk up to the booth at a gig, it’s your dream setup… paint a picture…
The tracks I play are already busy enough that I don’t need or have time to gussy ‘em up with a lot of effects or fancy mixing. I just want some decks that are straightforward and intuitive to use, and a mixer that help my transitions sound as smoove as possible. Pioneer stuff makes me happy in this department. Beyond the gear, I also would love for the booth to have some fun lights and/or blacklights, chips and salsa, a robot to serve me drinks, and a kitten to sit on my shoulder like a parrot while I play!

Three records you’ll never get sick of?

BT – Flaming June
DJ Assault – Ass-n-Titties
Zeb – The Place To Be

First thing that comes to mind when I say, … Art.

Garfunkel! I don’t even know what that guy’s music sounds like…his name just popped in there!
