<itunes:summary>Hello internet land, it's been a while... I've missed our sessions here and have a few goodies to share starting with a real doozy from our own dynamic duo Team Sexy (http://www.facebook.com/teamsexypdx). They put this on Soundcloud (http://soundcloud.com/teamsexypdx) a little while ago but I wanted to be sure all of you got the first installment of what promises to be a great series.

For those new to the Team Sexy experience is is comprised of Robby DeBolt (http://www.facebook.com/debolt2) (Kasher (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kasher/145613512133592)), and Jeremy Shay (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1598235500) (Hecca). These two can play just about anything, well known in Portland for their Dubstep sessions, this is their house centric tag teaming alter ego. Now that we all have name tags on, let's talk about the mix.

Leading off with some inviting deep house vibes, it quickly morphs into dance party USA. Interesting track selection, smooth mixes, and quality programming make this a joy to listen to. We wonder how many people will lose an hour dancing in their living room to this? It happens to everyone at some point, give up and give in... It feels real good.

A tag Team set of Sexy proportions... all for you.

<itunes:summary>It's been a while since I've posted new ear candy here, but I think it was worth the wait. The first (of more to come I hope) post curated and delivered by our very own CobyOne! Enjoy...

"I've recently had the pleasure of meeting Keekz when he was spinning a set at small Dub-step Night in LA. Little did I know that I'd be working with him, not as Dj's or Producers but as actual co-workers. Kenneth is a Drum and Bass head at heart and in the last 3 years, since moving to LA, has found himself engulfed in the LA Dub scene and has built a vast knowledge of Dub-Step from all over the globe. Keekz has been Djing for 8 years but was manipulating sound waves 5 years before that. He has a musical background that precedes his electronic music endeavors that shines through when he's making music or blending two tracks.

His production style can be very melodic and smooth, reminiscent of Liquid Drum n Bass. Which if you talk to him about his Drum n Bass past, you quickly understand why. But don't let the words "melodic and smooth" fool you, Keekz is a bass head through and through. He doesn't skimp on the low end, so have no fear. You can actually hear 4 of his original tracks on this mix.

He hails from Greensboro, North Carolina where he discovered and fell in love with Drum n Bass, ultimately changing the shape of his musical direction. For nearly a decade he produced and DJ'ed DnB, but it wasn't till he moved to LA that his sound took another turn. Dub-Step... This mix is the kind of set that takes you through different moods and styles, that breaks the monotony, that some single genre mixes can carry. Everything from some in your face bass, to feeling pretty, to wanting to jump up and get down. If you're a fan of Dnb and Dub-step, then I'm sure you will have no problem digging this mix.

Keekz is a very intelligent and tech savvy guy and it shows in his production. I have the proud opportunity of getting to remix one of his original tracks, "Who You Are", which you will find on this mix. Keekz has an EP coming out on Pocket Socket Records and is in the works on releasing another single with InDaJungle Recordings. Don't sleep on this guy people! I've become good friends with him and his approach and mindset towards electronic music fits right in with the kind of people we love here at The Funk Kind.

I am proud to bring you TFK listeners the first little taste of my friend and fellow DJ/Producer Dj Keekz.... Look for collaborations with myself and Kenneth in the near future. Meanwhile, download and enjoy!

Check out his tunes on www.myspace.com/Kinith (http://www.myspace.com/Kinith)

<itunes:summary>What we have here is Lorin's self described latest mix of "omni-tempo maximalism". Bassnectar (http://www.bassnectar.net/) has been pushing the boundaries of what a DJ is since his beginnings. My first encounter with his music was at Burning Man ten years ago. The entire scene those next couple of years for me musically in Black Rock City were transformative. The slow bass body music El Circo and other camps were pouring out was so fresh and fundamentally just dripping with sex. Bassnectar's sets always a highlight, almost everything you heard had been tweaked in his own lab before it blessed the crowd. Mood shifts and tempo switches done so dramatically but yet you'd hardly notice them... All part of the journey.

The first track Doom's Night is really a sentimental one for me. As usual he has done a complete rework in his lab, breathing new life into the classic. I'll never forget the first time I played Doom's Night though, over a decade ago now, my first real gig. Back then the internet was a fetus in comparison to it's current state. Finding records involved people, phone calls, and luck. So no one at that party had heard it yet, I'm positive of that fact. The excitement level was at eleven when that bass line dropped in for the first time. As used to happen it was now "my track", and I had set myself a high bar for the future. The experience was amazing and every time I hear that song I am reminded of the beginning of my journey as a DJ myself, no matter how different it sounds today.

The rest of the mix is a odyssey through the familiar flipped on it's head. Bassnectar always make's it all his own, even your favorite Pixies track. Professionally warping hip-hop, to drum and bass, and dropping a few classic tracks in between there's a little something we can all enjoy... Unless you've got big speakers, then resistance in any form is futile.

Get you some tempo ambiguous, bass riddled body music.

Let's all thank Pat (http://www.myspace.com/patbenolkin) for the wonderful iPod fodder now kiddies.

As the opening of it all, it's logical and thoughtful. At this point I expect nothing less of Mr. Benolkin. He begins it like you would begin a party, subdued a bit, tribal, and warm to the touch. By the time I heard the familiar sample "I am ready", I was indeed. The momentum is constant, building very expertly until about two-thirds of the way through when the energy goes up another notch. His track selection, programming and mixing are fluid as always, and just as the name imparts... he left me primed and ready for part two.

Here's a little tech house love for you, perfect for the lead up to just about anything.. What will you use it for?

<itunes:summary>It's been a while. Sorry to leave you hanging like that. I've been working on some stuff though promise... Like a record label, and a challenging new position in a studio in LA. This is all good stuff! I've been keeping this mix all to myself for a while now, and the guilt finally got to me. Mix Architekt blesses us with an hour long journey that borders on genius. He is seriously one of my favorite DJs in the world, you should listen. While he completely embraces and pushes technology to it's potential, he still does his mixes all live... and with a signal chain even I could love, that's saying something.

This mix is a symphony of tech haus goodies, impossibly layered to create completely new textures. I have a few of the tracks so I was able to really see what was going on (yes with my ears). There is almost constantly four tracks going, expert filter use, amazing delay lines, complete restructuring of tracks you think you know. Technically it's all there, but even at just the most basic human level... Emotionally it moves you from point A to point B, there are some serious builds and mood shifts. Highly recommended listening material. Try to find a comfortable spot, and jam it with your eyes closed.

I always love it when someone takes the time to plan out a DJ mix as if it were a journey, I think the effect is universal. When we think about where it begins and where it will go, not just stringing together the top ten on Beatport, or what the blogs are hyping... When we use our minds to imagine ourselves at the helm of some intergalactic control tower, and believe we can take you along for the ride? That's when the magic happens.

So here's the daily dose.

¡Enjoy¡

The partnership consists of MartyParty and Ooah of Glitch Mob fame. The boys at Marine Parade we're good enough to let me hear their first release which you can be rocking as early as tomorrow. Listening to it I knew I was hearing the beginning of something large. Beba is the first track on the mix there which I've probably listened to 20 times now, definitely in rotation. For some reason they put a ridiculously sick 32 count on the end, loopers delight. Get Money is equally impressive, an emotional thug epic with enough bassline for even the hardest . As mentioned June 6 2009 is the release of the first single Beba / Get Money, and July 7 we'll see the rest of the goods when they release their debut album.

Holler if ya hear me..............
T.G.I.F. (thank GOD it's funky)

Enough psycho babble for now.

<itunes:summary>It's about time for a tech house fix innit? I stray but I can't wander long. I'm not sure what it is, maybe that I'm just incredibly cool... or maybe it is the water, but a large percentage of my friends are good DJs. Not just DJs, I mean really amazing selectors. Curtis has always been one of my favorites so when he dropped this gem in my inbox I felt like a kid on Christmas waiting for the time to give it a proper listen.

Curtis Porter has that smooth mixing style I love, and he is very versatile. He can seamlessly weave a tapestry of sounds, then just sneak up on you and drop a bomb. He has the tools in his shed and he is not afraid to use them. Everybody give it up for good DJs! There is so much back scratching and bull-shittery™ that on an average night out, you could be subjected to any number of horrors... Meanwhile a silent assassin like Mr. Porter sits untouched. What a tragedy.

Let's start demanding good music, not just that guy who booked that other guy that one time. There is so much more to being good at this craft than being a promoter. For now, you'll have to enjoy this in your place of residence, or maybe in your car on your way to aforementioned club night.

Hell just email Curtis, apparently he has a club in his casa.

Turn it up to eleven.

<itunes:summary>Well well. One of our residents brings some new love for our pages. I always appreciate that. I know I need to do it myself... But I digress... This mix is straight party. This sucker is 100% velocity start to finish, this is not a good time to relax... this would be ideal for dancing about wildly, cleaning your house in your underwear, running with scissors, activity in general.... use your imagination.

Try to keep up.

<itunes:summary>Sunday Sessions Episode One... This mix is seriously a must. I know I tell you all of the mixes are good, cause you know what they are. I don't post everything I come across. I do work so you can just enjoy something interesting and quality. So even though I hype every mix, I gotta tell you this one is pretty amazing. In fifty-nine and a half minutes we cover 66 tracks and not once did I feel like I needed ADD treatment. Impressive feat no matter who you are...

Little Orphan Orange came to me from a good friend in Seattle. I've known James Stevens since the late nineties, and he has always been ridiculously good at DJ'ing. From selection to execution solid all day long. I have fond memories of the living room at his house, dominated by the sound setup. Any day of the week, bet he was thinking outside the box and keeping me on my toes.

This is a two man mix, Peter Schott is the other half of Clobber... I don't have a link yet for either of them but you can contact them through this site for now. These guys are in Seattle and they played this mix when they opened for Milanese and Cyrus. I know it was 2 men, 3 1200's and a Rane mixer, which is their normal setup as far as I know.

About the mix, not easy to wrangle into few words... First off it is best ingested whole, and it evolves very well, rolling effortlessly from track to track, it has a very hip/trip-hop vibe for the first chapter... They lift you up somewhere in the middle seemingly just to bring you back down with some drama and dub-step. Here's where some big speakers come in handy, cause I'm telling you it sounds completely different than your computer speakers (got one of those little subwoofers?). Anyway burn and play at full volume elsewhere if necessary. That just details the first half, I'll leave a little to the imagination.

Check it out.

Ooah, Boreta, edIT, & Kraddy make up the Glitch Mob. Usually this is the part where I try to describe the music to anyone out there who doesn't know them... But trying to do so, I keep taking a breath and going to say something then staring out into space. Glitch is the obvious answer, but it's more than that. I think it sounds like a dirty bass line stomping in knee deep mud. However you choose to put it into words (consider that a challenge), izz good. These guys have been killing it live, if you get a chance go check them out for yourself. Energy all the way... they play with the crowd, not just for it.

<itunes:summary>Is it just me or is Techno just good? I mean good techo, Bucky Fargo techno. I happened upon his radio show on Proton Radio one day. That's the second time on that site... randomly hearing a DJ I've never heard, just totally destroy it while I'm sitting in front of my computer. There are some quality shows on that site, check it out.

Here's what I know about Bucky Fargo... he is good at this DJ'ing thing, he has a dope radio show, he seems really nice and he answers his email. All great qualities! Now a little about this mix, this is Part 2 of a set at an after hours in a rundown warehouse on the south side of Chicago. November 15, 2008 to be exact. As DJs we face many battles, on this fated night he got "sound tech trying to be the DJ". I listened to the whole mix and Part 1 could have been great, without said sound guy. In this half you only hear him for the first track or two. Then some one must have taken that laaast shot of tequila for the night and passed out behind the racks, thank god. Cause the rest is amazing, and there's some really really solid selections here. Not for the faint of heart, this mix is true to it's roots... Chicago techno at it's finest.

Enough babble, you know what to do.

Bio
Rooted in the dark, spacey sounds of minimal house, Bucky Fargo takes audiences on tech-heavy ride suited for the after-midnight set. Growing up in the house epicenter of Chicago, Fargo took some points from the radio pioneers who crafted a weekly vibe on the Hot Mix 5 of WBMX 102.7. In junior high, he was known for carting around boxes of self-styled mix tapes and giving them to friends just to spread the house sound. After hunting down music of his interest in runned down warehouses, Bucky was quickly influenced by the rave scene in the 90 's

In no time Bucky was a seasoned conductor of the Midwest rave scene and playing some of the most respected club events acorss the tri state area. In 2004, he took his role as a DJ one step further, landing gigs on the trans-Atlantic party circuits of Eastern Europe and beyond.

These days, Fargo still works plenty of overseas play dates, joining the ranks of some of the most respected artists. The recent launch of this new label, Step Forward Recordings, has kept this minimal mastermind busy in Chicago. The imprint includes some of the premiere producers on the minimal scene. Launched in May 2007, the label spotlights an array of minimal tech-house talent, with Fargo as the main behind it all.

His long-and-layered transitions keep crowds wondering where the next breakdown will break. Pushing the boundaries and always experimenting with dance floors everywhere, Bucky is always keeping listeners on their feet. His work on Proton Radio combined with his recent migration back into the studio ensures that Fargo is clearly making heads turn.

<itunes:summary>I figured I should get all my mixes up here, why not. This mix was recorded in the summer of 2005. This was just a few months into my digital foray and I was having a great time revisiting genres I hadn't for some time. That's one of the best things about digital music, it's cheap so you can buy a lot. Hear that kids, buy... buy the music. Anyway, this mix was done just before I moved to Arizona. I had turned my attention to the future already, and hoped this would serve as a calling card for Phoenix promoters. I had no idea school was going to take up all of my time, and I would never really connect with the scene there. Somehow I did end up with a Friday residency at a fun bar, and a whole bunch of knowledge about audio. Until this point I had spent my entire career as a DJ as a Boise resident. Though I had traveled, I knew it was the beginning of new friendships and connections. The title is both a nod to computer nerds everywhere, and me introducing myself to the great unknown.

This mix was burned to 100 CDs, and as far as I know it has never been online, so you most likely haven't heard it yet. I just listened again and it's very smooth, and can be deceptive (yes gentlemen, wear a cup). Exploring some deep house at the onset with tracks that still get play in my crate, it's not too long before we get down to business.

This mix goes from deep, to dirty, acid jack, and then back. At least that's what I hear. I realize my description is useless for 98% of the population, but the other two are smiling. A very subtle banger here. Get you some.

Tracklist is coming... Swear

<itunes:summary>I came across this mix a week ago, and instantly shot off an email to see if I could share it with you. Mr. Dinsdale was more than happy to oblige. So here we have it, Richard Dinsdale's second mix for October. This mix explains that Ministry of Sound residency, club thumping, thick and engaging throughout. I won't list his slew of accomplishments, I'll just say listen to the mix, even better go listen to his production work. Honestly that's how I know him crunchy, teched-out, precise bangers. He has a unique sound and you can always count on quality. As I type this I only have a 96kbps file for the mix, which kills me because otherwise it's amazing (yes I'm a nerd). For those of you who want to turn it up I've got a email in.

Tracklisting

	* Hauswerks ‘shake it’ [1trax]
	* Shlomi Aber ‘State Of No One’ (Shlomi Aber Mix) [Renaissance]
	* Rene Amesz ’ploert’ (dj remy and roland klinkenberg remix) [Noir music]
	* CLS ‘Can you feel it”(Erick E remix) [Strictly Rhythm]

Bio
It's all too easy to endlessly list Richard Dinsdale's accomplishments. It's all too easy to wax lyrical about his Ministry Of Sound residency, his genre bending productions or his rapid rise to the top of house music's well spread table. But where's the fun in that? Of course Richard's one of the UK house music's recent heroes. You wouldn't be reading this if he wasn't. What you need to know is why he is where he is. And why this time next year he'll be even further.

<itunes:summary>Ok, I'm really excited about this one! I've heard every mix this guy has done in the last decade, he always brings it to the table, but this is my favorite mix he's done in a while. For the uninitiated Mike Balance is an amazing Producer / DJ, working closely with the In Stereo crew to churn out some massive tunes for the dancefloor. Back in 1997, Mike was my first favorite DJ! Then under the moniker Ishy K, he always brought that funky house flavor. Even after trance took over I could always count on him to bring me the music I needed to hear in those dirty warehouse days. Ahhh nostalgia. Anyway, since then he has grown into a world class producer and still remains one of the coolest guys I know.

This mix starts off with a great remix of "The Geeks Were Right", and wastes no time getting to the face ripping, bass line madness. This mix is pure Electro House, 100% what's hot and right now. I'm pretty picky when it comes to this stuff, because there are so many DJs out there that just follow trends without regard for taste... this mix is a great example of a DJ who knows who he is, and can go there and keep it really natural and real. This music is so fresh I couldn't even get a track list, so let's play name that tune. In the comments leave posts with time and track name if you know it. And Mike said for anyone who really wants to know, just ask him.

No Track List Available

Includes tracks and remixes by: The Faint, Global Deejays, Wolfgang Gartner, Twocker, Dabruck & Klein, DJ Kue, Phonat, Mike Balance and more!
Bio
Mike has been DJing for over 14 years and has been involved with electronic music production even longer. In the past few years alone his remixes and originals have appeared on labels such as In Stereo, Hatrax, Solmatic and Audacious. Mike's tracks have hit the top ten hot sellers on both Beatport.com and Dancerecords.com in addition to landing on the charts of DJ Dan, Richard Vission, Angel Alanis, Charles Feelgood and Vitamin D to name a few. Don't miss MB's signature style of fun, funky and tweaky electro jams!

<itunes:summary>Well here's the first mix we've posted by this west coast house phenom, Jen Woolfe is an amazing DJ (and woman for that matter). I met her last year at Esthetic (http://www.estheticevolution.com), and instantly knew she was something special. She keeps it very funky for this mix, taking us through the paces with some perverted tech house out front to get your attention. Smart move! After a few nice bass heavy floor fillers she goes a little deeper keeping in line with those SF tendencies. She manages to navigate through a number of sub-genres and keeps it all together expertly. If you are in San Francisco be sure to look out for her, great music, great people!

Bio
Jen Woolfe (Dreemworld/SF)
Smooth-as-Silk Mixing with a Celestial Bassline - House, Nu Skool Breaks & Elegant Electro

Jen Woolfe began her DJ career in 2001, after realizing her favorite spot on the dance floor was two feet away from the DJ booth, watching the hands of every Deep and Tech House DJ to visit her hometown of Seattle. Soon after she picked up Deep Dish's Global Underground, she made the move to Progressive House, a genre that succumbs to her seductive style and intimate journeys.

Jen began to play for Seattle clubs in early 2003. She also began promotions for events of her own, making a name for herself in both the club and party scene. In 2005, she launched a the legendary After Hours monthly, Creme, at the Leschi Lounge . At the same time, Jen returned to her Alt-Rock roots by fusing Dance with House & Funky New School Breaks and tinting her style with elegant Electro.

Jen's versatility allows her to play any time of night at any venue, always served with style. Her desire to bring together diverse communities under one groove has helped her to be one of the most loved and devoted DJ's in Seattle.

Jen is currently an affiliate of Dreemworld (http://www.dreemworld.com). She has played at venues across the U.S., including Seattle, San Francisco, Portland, Reno, Las Vegas, Vancouver B.C., Boston, Boise, Chicago, Idaho Falls, Grand Junction CO and Black Rock City, NV. She has recently relocated to San Francisco, the city that first seduced her into her obsession for electronic music.

<itunes:summary>One of our own has relocated to Portland, so time for a new mix to introduce himself all proper and shit. He lays down a solid house set here.. With some Bmore jams as bookends we start, and quickly we go into electro breaks territory, all the while keeping the party vibe thick. The meat of this mix is electro house, be it bass line theory or tripped out Floyd-esque synths... or both, it's a pretty nice hello to you Portland. Book him already, leave him some love, and rate the mix.

Beyer & Trent Cantrelle were there to round it out. Not a terrible lineup... We arrived pretty early and immediately I was stuck in the main room. This guy I had never seen or heard was massaging a ridiculous system with some tech house. It was also my first time at Avalon, which I think is an amazing club. I had a hard time staying on the terrace, the main rooms setup just so inviting and bumpy. As the night went on this was the set that stuck in my head. Trent captained that room like a pro. Building the energy and emotion, really setting up the night for the rest of the crew... Don't forget to rate the mix, and let him know what you think.

We took a road trip together for NYE 1999 that I will never forget. The journey, the acid-ccident, Carl Cox & hot garbage.... it's a long story but I'll tell you this. He is good people, and a stunning talent. Oh, and yeah he has a pretty nice ass too. That never hurts.

If I need a fix of dirty tech house, I always know where to look for an exciting new mix. He is not afraid to try something different, and he's sure enough to share it.
